I was a social worker before becoming a family law lawyer and I completed my articles with Alberta Justice where I worked in child protection, criminal prosecutions, appeal and the office of the Public Trustee. This background gave me the skills to assist people working through difficult divorces and family law disputes. It also gave me significant courtroom experience and I have conducted numerous trials and hearings in court on family law cases.
I have received the Howard Tidswell Memorial Award in Law and the Alberta Provincial Court Judges Award of Merit for my volunteer work and courtroom advocacy skills. I have also provided an expert opinion in the High Court of London UK on Alberta family law and child protection in the international context.
